Huge India and the largest American states join the confined cohort, from which China is carefully starting to extricate itself. Each country counts its deaths while the world economy goes into survival mode. At a distance from each other, but all in the same boat, we are learning to distinguish the essential from the superfluous, as imposed by our state of "war".
However, there is no fatality to this planetary calamity. Let us be clear: at the point where we are, it would be futile to seek an alternative to confinement, to which everyone must comply. However, this extreme measure of public health constitutes an admission of collective failure. It was improvidence that led us to the fringes of this coma.
