French news: the 2020 program

2020-03-26T16:00:23.174Z

NEWS - An avalanche of new tricolor models will be launched in the coming months.

The closure of all the production sites of the two French automotive groups following the spread of the coronavirus epidemic will necessarily have consequences for the launch schedule of the new models. The release of certain vehicles will certainly be delayed. Let us remain positive: it has been a long time since our French industry had promised us such a fireworks display of new products. This offensive will keep all market segments. To meet the CO2 reduction targets imposed by the European Commission, the PSA and Renault programs require the multiplication of electrified versions.

The Renault group has thus planned this year to enrich its range of four battery vehicles. They are based on different technologies: hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric. The Clio, the Captur and the Mégane will share a new hybrid E-Tech technology in development since the beginning of 2010. Tested on the Eolab prototype of 2014, the solution chosen for the Clio E-Tech combines a 4-cylinder engine 1 , 6 liter atmospheric 91 horsepower original Nissan with two electric motors, a 15 kW alternator-starter and a 35 kW electric motor (48 hp) both installed in the clutchless multimode gearbox. The best solution according to the engineers in terms of performance and weight management (just 10 kilos heavier than the 1.5 dCi 115). The house transmission, which stood out for the filing of 150 patents, has two trees. That of the heat engine has four reports, the electric two. The kinematics of the system offers up to 15 combinations of operation. The whole is powered by a 1.2 kW lithium-ion battery housed under the floor of the boot and which does not need to be plugged into a socket to recharge. Clio's hybrid series-parallel technology allows systematic starting in electric mode. An EV key forces the electric mode that Renault guarantees up to a speed of 70 to 75 km / h. Fuel economy in urban use would reach 40% compared to the TCe 130 model. In mixed use, the gain would be around 15 to 20%. With a combined power of 140 hp which places the Clio E-Tech at the top of the range, the performance will be flattering: 6.9 seconds to go from 80 to 120 km / h and around 9.5 seconds to reach 100 km / h.

The Mégane station wagon E-Tech plug-in. Renault

The Clio Hybrid will be launched from € 22,600. The Captur and Mégane E-Tech Plug-in inherit Clio E-Tech technology but the main electric motor develops 53 kW and the alternator-starter 23 kW. The cumulative power increases to 160 hp and thanks to the 9.8 kWh battery, these two models benefit from an electric range of around 50 km. Renault announces an official consumption of 1.5 l / km (combined cycle), which corresponds to CO2 emissions of only 32 g / km. The Renault compact will initially be marketed with the station wagon silhouette. In addition, the Megane is getting a makeover. On the menu: revisited lines, a rechargeable hybrid powertrain and high-tech equipment.

It is not a revolution but the restyled Megane is acquiring the latest stylistic codes of the brand. They go through a more expressive grille, redesigned shields, a light signature based on LED technology. The thinner taillights are also led. The front fenders adopt a decor and the door handles are now lit. The modifications are more significant inside. The instrumentation becomes digital and rests on a 10.2 inch customizable slab integrating the navigation indications. The center console is also revolutionizing, adopting the latest generation of the infotainment system. Now 9.3 inches instead of 8.7 inches, the touch screen gives access to the new Easy-Link interface. The Mégane is also getting up to date in the area of connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. At the same time, the designers have improved ergonomics by consolidating all the driving aid commands on the steering wheel. In terms of technology, the Mégane has access to the level 2 autonomous driving assistance system launched by the Clio V. Besides the plug-in hybrid version, the Mégane maintains a thermal offer. It revolves around the 1.3 TCe petrol engine equipped with a particle filter and available in 100, 115, 140 and 160 hp. As for the diesel offer, it is based on the 1.5 Blue dCi available in 95 and 115 hp. These two engines incorporate the selective catalytic reduction device (SCR). In addition, the Mégane RS is still on the program. Its 1.8 l turbo direct injection engine delivers 300 hp and 400 Nm (with manual transmission) and 420 Nm (EDC) torque. Music lovers will appreciate the exhaust system taking care of vocalizations.

The Twingo will finally be available in an electric version. renault

At the end of the year, the Twingo will finally take advantage of its platform, originally designed for electric vehicles, to access zero-emission propulsion, like its cousin, the Smart Forfour ED. On the other hand, the accumulators have a capacity of 21.3 kWh instead of 17.6 kWh for the German city car. This has an impact on the range that Renault announces at 180 km (WLTP cycle), while taking care to specify that it is a value for the summer. The battery powers a synchronous, wound rotor electric motor with a power of 60 kW (82 hp) and a torque of 160 Nm. If the top speed is restricted to 135 km / h to preserve autonomy, the Twingo ZE stands out with good vigor at start-up. The 50 km / h are reached in 4 seconds.

In addition, to reduce the carbon footprint of its range, the Clio and the Captur are launched in LPG version from the 3-cylinder 100 hp. Cheaper at the pump, this fuel also offers numerous tax advantages: total or partial exemption from the registration card (depending on the department), eligibility for the conversion premium, Crit'Air 1 sticker for all LPG vehicles. For their part, professionals specifically benefit from an exemption from TVS for 3 years and the recovery of VAT on Clio GPL. The price of the Clio and Captur starts at € 18,000 including tax and € 20,900 respectively.

Renault

In addition, Renault has not given up improving its top of the range. After Espace, it is its Talisman truck which benefits from a makeover. Aesthetically, it adopts a new grille and LED lights (front and rear). The interior is distinguished by chrome decoration and customizable mood lighting. The dashboard houses a 10.2-inch digital screen as standard.

Now connected, the Talisman sedan benefits from the latest level 2 autonomous driving systems. The petrol engines are now fitted with a particle filter while the diesels have SCR pollution control technology with the AdBlue tank. The petrol range includes the 1.3 liter Tce160 and the 1.8 liter TCe 225. These two blocks are associated with a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. The diesel range revolves around the Blue dCi 1.7 liters of 120 and 150 hp and the Blue dCi 2 liters of 160 and 200 hp.

At Dacia, the 3-cylinder 100 hp LPG fuel engine is also making the news. It will be available on the Duster, Sandero, Sandero Stepway, Logan and Logan MCV. It reduces consumption and CO2 emissions.

For its part, Alpine is enriching its catalog with new versions: the Legend GT and the Color Edition 2020. The first becomes the most exclusive and most refined berlinette ever produced. Limited to 400 numbered copies, the Légende GT stands out with its elegant hues - mercury silver, black or dark blue - paired with 18-inch Serac rims and pale gold Alpine monograms. The translucent white LED rear lights also distinguish this finish from the other versions of the range. At the same time, Alpine launched the "collection" series. This new program, renewed each year, will allow, for a limited period, to highlight a color inspired by the world of fashion and the history of the brand. The first version of this program revisits the sunflower yellow of the 1970s berlinettes.

The PSA group is also preparing to roll out a substantial program. Within the brand While the new 208 has entered its first full year of marketing, the 2008 begins its career. The year 2020 will also be marked by the facelift of the duo 3008/5008. Developments should however remain minor. In the last quarter of this year, Peugeot planned to market the 508 PSE (Peugeot Sport Engineered). Because of the period of confinement which delays its development, the marketing of this model will undoubtedly be postponed until the beginning of 2021. Developed by the sporting division of Peugeot, the 508 PSE promises to be the most powerful model in the history of the Sochalian builder.

From the 225-horsepower 508 Hybrid, engineers have developed a version that claims 360 horsepower. the technology combines the 1.6 200 hp 4-cylinder with two electric motors, one per axle (110 hp at the front, 200 hp at the rear). This is how this truly special 508 can be transformed into 4WD. We know that the power of thermal and electric do not add up and the gain of 175 horsepower is based on the adoption of a second electric motor placed this time on the rear axle and delivering 200 hp. The 508 Concept Peugeot Sport announces a torque of the order of 550 to 600 Nm. The performance, close to a sports car, has what to disturb the faithful of the mark with the lion. The 100 km / h would be reached in 4.3 seconds, the 1000 start stopped in 23.2 seconds. The addition of electricity would above all allow incredible recoveries: 2.5 seconds to go from 80 to 120 km / h and 9.3 seconds to go from 80 to 180 km / h. The battery with a capacity of 11.8 kWh would be able to offer a zero emission autonomy of 45 km while the CO2 emissions approved would not exceed 49 g / km according to the WLTP standard.

Road of 4.93 meters, the DS9 inherits the neat interior finishes of the DS7 Crossback. DS style

This vitamin mechanic will also animate the DS9, the new flagship of the DS brand. In accordance with the DS signature, the DS9 will offer the choice between several universes (Bastille, Rivoli, Opera, Performance Line) featuring noble materials and artisanal know-how - pearl stitching and guilloche stitching "Paris nails" inherited from French haute horlogerie. Each ambience has a specific finish and very precise fillings. Not content with wanting to be the benchmark in terms of comfort with its piloted suspension which detects road imperfections thanks to a camera, the DS9 receives the latest driving assistance technologies released by the DS7 Crossback. In line with our times, the DS9 will not have a diesel version but will be offered as a priority with rechargeable hybrid engines of 225, 250 and 360 hp.

Finally, at Citroën, 2020 will be marked by the entry of the C5 Aircross plug-in hybrid. It borrows its technology from the Peugeot 508 Hybrid of 225 hp. The herringbone manufacturer announces an electric range of 55 km and CO2 emissions of only 32 g / km.
