Ile-de-France: Rungis market launches its online sales site for individuals

2020-03-26T20:03:40.659Z

The “Rungis delivered to your home” platform is announced for next week and will serve Paris and its little crown in fruits and vegetables

Once is not custom, the copies preceded the original. After the launch of several fake online sales sites claiming to be the national interest market (MIN) of Rungis, the "belly of Paris" will launch its digital platform next week. His name: Rungis delivered to your door.

On the dedicated website, consumers can put together their basket of fruit, vegetables and fresh products and have it delivered directly to their home. An operation created by the MIN in partnership with the Île-de-France region, and widely encouraged by the containment imposed by the government to fight against the spread of the coronavirus.

With the closure of restaurants (March 14) and then outdoor markets (March 23), a whole chain of food production and distribution has disappeared. From the producer with no outlets to the private consumer of food, via the wholesaler forced into partial unemployment.

Only French, even Ile-de-France products

Alexandra Dublanche, Vice-President (ex-LR) of the Region, responsible in particular for economic development and agriculture: “On the one hand, it helps producers hit hard by the epidemic and who n have more to sell to, like market gardeners. On the other, we respond to the demand of Ile-de-France residents for fresh produce. It's win-win. All this using the logistical strength of the Rungis market, which is also idling. "

Question of "business", only Paris and its little crown can be delivered: "We would have liked to go further, but it is not possible from the launch, regrets the elected. The system must be kept at an economic level. "

On the basket side, in addition to fruits and vegetables, individuals could find meat, fish and dairy products. “That French, even Ile-de-France products, in short circuits, ensures the MIN. The objective is to offer a dematerialized outlet to all these producers who end up with merchandise on their hands. "

"Be as adaptive as possible"

“Inevitably, with the closure of restaurants and open-air markets, we lost two of our distribution channels, regrets Stéphane Layani, president of the Rungis market. But the only goal must be the end of this epidemic. For our part, we need to reorganize, be proactive and develop alternatives. "

Swearing since the beginning of the health crisis that there was "no risk of shortage", the boss hails the "great solidarity of actors in the food industry": "Because behind all this, there are companies and employees, we try to be as adaptive as possible. "

"It's true that we all give a helping hand," confirms Florent Hayoun. Even between competitors, it's using the elbows at the moment. The director of the French subsidiary of the "semi-wholesaler" of fruit and vegetables Natoora, based at the MIN, relies on the new platform to sell his goods.

“Our operators absolutely need to buy their products from them”

"Since confinement, our activity has been zero," notes the trader. Our 22 employees are unemployed. If we could bring back half of it with this operation it would be cool. The idea is to set up a real virtuous circle, and to support our agriculture. Our operators absolutely need to buy their products from them to start preparing for the next season. "

For logistics, Florent Hayoun explains that his company will deliver directly to consumers: “We or our colleagues, if baskets contain products from different sellers. It would be pointless to send three different delivery people the same day to the same address. "

The platform is still being developed. "By a company from Rungissoise", one specifies to the MIN, which invites the consumers in a hurry not to fall into the traps of the false sites.

Beware of false sites

On Wednesday, the site "Rungis et vous" promised "office or home delivery". Another semantic bias: the “Rungis. house ”, which disappeared yesterday, also boasted of selling products from the market.

"It is a company based in Germany which uses our customers to source our producers", denounced in a tweet Stéphane Layani. Since then, the company behind the site, Choco France, has changed its name. The new page was unavailable Thursday evening. "Following too much demand, our services are temporarily paused," says the company. Any order that has been placed will obviously be honored. "

In this case, the MIN is not sure whether to initiate legal proceedings: “This gentleman is in good faith. He changed the name of his site, and told us he did not know that Rungis was a registered trademark. […] It is not new. Companies always want to surf the Rungis image. »An" image "which will fully benefit the new sales site. The truth.
