Erding's district administrator said that due to lack of capacity, Corona patients had been moved from Freising to Erding. The Clinic Freising denies massively: "This is not true."

Freising - In no other Bavarian district, the corona virus has spread as quickly as in Freising. The hospital in particular is doing its utmost to take care of the infected. The fact that Erding's district administrator Martin Bayerstorfer told the local press that Freising was reaching its limits and Erding had to step in is causing confusion and annoyance at Freising Clinic.

Comments from Erding "do not correspond to the facts"

In a press conference on Tuesday, Bayerstorfer announced that "patients had been taken over" from the cathedral city because the capacities there were no longer sufficient. The Klinikum Freising strongly disagrees with these statements: As the most affected district in the Free State, “you had to deal very early with the development of capacities for the care of infected people and the procurement of medical material. To question this and to speak of "exhausted capacities" unsettles the population and does not correspond to the facts, "emphasized Andreas Holzner, managing director of the Clinic Freising, in a press release on Thursday.

Bayerstorfer had also said that Erding had to support the districts of Freising and Ebersberg. "We work closely with all clinics in the region," said Holzner. If there are patient transfers between these in individual cases, it is always "a matter of making individual decisions on the optimal further treatment of the seriously ill, mutual help, especially in intensive care places, has always been a practice". Holzner's appeal: "The smooth and highly professional as well as collegial, overarching cooperation within the three equal districts of the rescue association should not be affected by such campaign-driven statements."

Accommodation also planned in hotels

How the situation in the region will develop in the coming weeks is uncertain. The clinic, the district and the civil protection department work closely together to ensure the best possible care for the sick - and this is not at risk, says Freising's district administrator Josef Hauner. At the Freising Clinic, up to 108 beds are currently operating in isolation stations on two levels. There is also a separate isolation intensive care unit with up to 16 intensive care units with ventilation options. According to managing director Holzner, other areas from normal operation could "be converted at any time to care for infected people". In addition, there was room for another 90 patients.

According to Hauner, in the event of a massive spread of the pandemic, people are now planning to accommodate infected people in hotels. “From a medical point of view, this is the better solution because it isolates patients. Placing cots in gyms does not provide adequate protection for patients and caregivers. ” Ft
