Over Easter to parents or on a short vacation? In Corona times, many train trips are likely to be canceled - despite having already booked a ticket. The Deutsche Bahn is accommodating.
Berlin (dpa / tmn) - Because of the corona pandemic, many people will not go to their families in the coming weeks and also over Easter and will not be traveling by train in any other way. However, Deutsche Bahn is accommodating in the crisis with ticket cancellations.
Anyone who has purchased a long-distance train ticket for travel days up to April 30 by March 13 can use it flexibly until June 30, according to Deutsche Bahn. However, group tickets are excluded. The city function for savings prices is also not covered by the goodwill rule - such travelers need a public transport ticket to get to their final destination.
Anyone who has booked a Flexpreis or Flexpreis Business can cancel their train ticket anyway for free.
Voucher solutions are also possible
It is also possible to convert purchased tickets for train journeys up to April 30th into a voucher worth the respective ticket by March 13th - this voucher can then still be used after June 30th. This also applies to super saver prices, saver prices and group tickets. The railway will accept the application for these voucher refunds by June 30.
However, rail customers have to be prepared for waiting times when processing their reimbursement of their request. From April 2, passengers should also be able to cancel a saver fare or super saver ticket booked online or on the go, directly online. The processing time by customer service is then no longer necessary.
