Venezuela renewed its condemnation of the American interference in its affairs, describing the accusations Washington is making against it as "miserable, flimsy and vulgar."
The French Press Agency quoted Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arias as saying in a televised speech that Washington's allegations and accusing President Nicholas Maduro and other Venezuelan officials of "terrorism linked to the drug trade" represented "a coup in a new form".
Ariasa added: US President Donald Trump is once again attacking the Venezuelan people and their democratic institutions by resorting to a new form of coup d'etat on the basis of miserable, cliched and flimsy accusations.
Venezuela is exposed to attempts to interfere with the United States in its internal affairs and destabilize it by tightening economic and financial sanctions and supporting right-wing forces in order to revive its plans to dominate this country that possesses huge oil wealth and the coup against the legitimate president Maduro by using all means, including violence and chaos.
