Weekend 'and sunshine: this combination usually attracts thousands of hikers and walkers to the region. In Corona times, however, this is not welcome on site.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen - A fire letter from the Tegernsee valley caused a lot of attention: the mayors there asked to tighten the current exit restrictions. Because in the middle of the Corona crisis, the valley does not want to be overrun by day trippers from Munich. Before the upcoming weekend, many people in Loisachtal and Isarwinkel also feel bad. The appeal comes from many places: "Stay at home!"

Mayor Thomas Holz of Kochler can only shake his head. The corona epidemic was already in full swing when the destinations in his community "got there like at Pentecost," he says. "People were grilling in the group by the lake, the hiking parking lots were full." Holz fears that this weekend it will repeat itself despite the exit restrictions.

It is currently not justifiable, "when people like the ants go up the mountain or there are ten of them on the banks of the Walchensee". In the buzz of tourists, it is not even possible to keep enough distance from one another - and the risk of a corona infection increases.

From Holz's point of view, it just doesn't fit together, "if all citizens limit themselves, stay at home as far as possible and limit social contacts, and then half of Munich is with us when the weather is fine".

Wood therefore demands that the state government block the “excursion”. Together with his counterparts from the neighboring municipalities, he would like to “approach the state government” in this regard.

Before joining, Mayor Werner Weindl of Lenggries wants to watch the situation again carefully. "And we will pass it on accordingly." Last weekend it was "much quieter" in the mountains, says Weindl. "But that may have been due to the weather."

There was only one problem in case. "The motorhome parking lot is still well filled," says Weindl. “That would be fine if people stayed in their mobile homes. But they meet outside for a barbecue. ”The community even informed the police about this. But when the officials were on site, there was no barbecue party going on.

Weindl would also have no problem with hiking itself, "if everyone was traveling individually or with their own family". But that is not realistic. "On excursions you meet and sit together - and when the hut is closed, then on the terrace." According to the current requirement, minimizing his social contacts, something like that is "not the point," says Weindl. "The more people behave sensibly, the faster the rules can be relaxed again."

The Jachenau city council chief Georg Riesch also hopes that appeals to reason will bear fruit. "In the last few days, the cold weather has kept us within limits - let's see what the weekend brings," he says. No one can blame it humanly, who wants to get out of the city into nature. “But according to the order, everyone should stay at home as far as possible. It doesn't help if we now get a wide range of excursions again. ”Therefore, he can only call:“ Stay at home! ”

The three mayors agree that they do not intend to block hiking parking lots in their communities. For one thing, they had so many of them that they couldn't handle it, they explain in unison. “And besides, people just park a bit next to it. That is not the solution, ”says Riesch.
