The coronavirus pandemic has killed 345 people in the United States in the past 24 hours, according to a record published Friday by Johns Hopkins University, a record, which brings the death toll in the country at 1,475 dead.
The United States, now the first in the number of officially declared cases in the world (97,028) also recorded nearly 18,000 cases in one day. The World Health Organization is concerned that the country and its nearly 330 million people may become the next epicenter of the pandemic.
The majority of the deaths are so far recorded in New York State, which has become the center of the American epidemic. Its governor, Andrew Cuomo predicts a peak of contaminations in about 21 days, around April 17.
