The FNSEA and the national federation of the markets of France established a " protocol of good practices for the markets ", detailing the conditions allowing a reopening of certain early markets, that they are covered or open air, " validated by the ministries of Health, Agriculture, Bercy and the Interior, "said the majority agricultural union FNSEA on Friday.

This protocol " will be published by the government to allow mayors to present arguments to the prefects during requests for reopening, " FNSEA president Christiane Lambert told AFP. It is a " guide to good practices sent to prefects to authorize the opening of markets, " said a spokesman for the Ministry of Agriculture. " This means that we provide a benchmark to guide the prefects, " he continues.

This four-page protocol includes very precise provisions and details in particular the necessary distance between each stall or the installation of barriers around the stalls. The government's decision to close early markets since Tuesday has sparked protests among industry players.

The executive, however, had left the door open to exemptions, especially when the market is " the only " way to have " access to fresh products ". " Since the closure was announced, 55 markets were reopened yesterday in Hérault, and 40 in Maine-et-Loire, " said Christiane Lambert. " But 280 mayors had already issued closure orders before the government announced. They won't reopen everywhere, ”she said.

The government " recognizes that the application of strict sanitary rules allows the holding of any form of food sale ", for its part reacted the Peasant Confederation.

Modef also welcomed the " reopening of the markets ", noting in a press release that it is " important to preserve the health of our producers and also of consumers ".
