The Russian Foreign Ministry has described the recent US accusations of Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro as "ridiculous and terrible."
"We were surprised by the news that the US Attorney General accused the Venezuelan leadership of participating directly in the international drug trade," Novosti news agency quoted Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova as saying, noting that Washington's allegations came in the context of its efforts to target the legitimate authority in Venezuela.
Yesterday, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arias said in a televised speech that Washington's allegations and the accusation of President Maduro and other Venezuelan officials of "terrorism linked to the drug trade" represents "a coup in a new form."
Venezuela is exposed to attempts to interfere with the United States in its internal affairs and destabilize it by tightening economic and financial sanctions and supporting right-wing forces in order to revive its plans to dominate this country that possesses huge oil wealth and the coup against the legitimate president Maduro by using all means, including violence and chaos.
