Spectacular use for almost 30 THW helpers: At Eitting, a large semi-trailer full of drinks slipped into the ditch. Because of Corona, the helpers came in with breathing masks. An operation that became even more complicated than it already was due to the safety margin.

Eitting - Freising Technical Relief reported on a spectacular assignment at Eitting on Friday in a press release. Accordingly, the THW was alerted to the Wurzer composting plant at around 10.30 p.m. on Monday. There was a semitrailer while maneuvering, loaded with around 24 tons of drinks, came to the banquet and slipped into the ditch. The truck got into a dangerous inclined position and was in danger of falling.

The salvage company notified by the truck driver secured the vehicle against further slipping, so that safe working was possible. Various THW vehicles were now necessary, also for the removal of the drinks bottles.

The corona virus meanwhile made the use even more delicate. In order not to expose the helpers to a risk of infection unnecessarily, the THW trucks were not fully staffed according to the message and attention was given to a sufficient safety distance, additional helpers had to drive with the youth station wagons. As it was not always possible to pay attention to the safety distance during the reloading work, which had to be carried out by hand, the helpers wore respiratory masks to minimize the risk of infection.

The full drinks bottles were stacked on Euro pallets, loaded onto the THW vehicles by wheel loader and transported to the accommodation in Freising, where the mountain company commissioned to pick them up the next day. The mission for the 26 helpers did not end until around 5.30 a.m., i.e. after seven hours.

"Unfortunately, due to the current problem with corona, sitting comfortably in the accommodation had to be avoided," writes the THW. And adds: “This shows how important it is that the population adheres to the exit restrictions in order to slow down or interrupt the chain of infection. This is the only way to ensure that organizations such as the fire brigade and the THW can maintain operational readiness and provide valuable help.
