Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Mohammed ben Zayed al-Nahyane had a telephone interview Friday, the official Syrian news agency Sana reported, the first since the start of the conflict in Syria in 2011.

Quoting the Syrian presidency, Sana reported a " telephone interview between President Assad and the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi (...) focused on the consequences of the spread of the new coronavirus (...) " during which the emirati official assured Mr. Assad of " the support of the United Arab Emirates to the Syrian people during these exceptional circumstances ".
