The French Rugby Federation (FFR) decided this Friday to permanently end the current season of the amateur championships, shortly after the announcement of the extension of confinement in connection with the coronavirus pandemic.

“The Federal Office of the French Rugby Federation has made the painful decision to definitively stop the amateur championships at all levels for the current season. Thus, no title of champion of France or League will be awarded for the 2019-2020 season, "wrote the FFR in a press release.

"The modalities relating to accessions and possible relegations for national competitions will be communicated by the National Tests Commission by April 3," adds the FFR, which intends "to be on the initiative with its Leagues, Departmental committees and Clubs to create sports activities ”during the period, after the containment was lifted.

Rugby is stopped, like all other sports, because of the coronavirus. In France, the Top 14 and the Pro D2 are suspended until further notice. The quarter-finals of the European Cup were postponed, and the Six Nations Tournament could not go to its end, with in particular the postponement of France-Ireland.
