Coronavirus: cessation of all non-essential activity in Spain

The president of the Spanish government, Pedro Sanchez, ordered on Saturday March 28th the confinement at home for two weeks, from March 30th to April 9th, of all Spanish employees except those working in essential sectors, in order to fight against the coronavirus.

Wages will continue to be paid to them, he said, but workers will have to make up for their hours not worked afterwards.

Spain is one of the countries most affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, with 72,248 cases, of which 5,690 were fatal.

A similar measure has been in force in Italy since last Saturday.
