The runoff elections will take place on Sunday in the district of Erding. There are enough election workers, the municipalities report. And they are usually given special protection.
District - Even though there is a lot of uncertainty at the moment, Sunday's runoff elections are not. Although some election workers in the district have canceled due to fear of being infected with the Corona virus, there are still enough people. This was the result of a survey by our newspaper. This is confirmed by the press spokeswoman for the district office, Claudia Fiebrandt-Kirmeyer. It was not necessary to postpone the vote count to Monday. The situation in the municipalities is currently still in the green area.
City of Dorfen
Julia Neuberger, head of the Dorfen municipality, reports: “We currently have around 60 to 70 election workers available. However, these are now only employees of the city. We want to avoid that anyone feels compelled to help. "Of course, concern is noticeable, which is why measures are taken:" We have mouth guards, gloves and also protection for the tables. In addition, the minimum distance is maintained without any problems. ”Neuberger estimates that the counting on Sunday will therefore take longer.
In the Isen market, the postal voting districts have been reduced due to the corona crisis. “We now only need 30 helpers, and they are available to us without any problems. There is currently no emergency situation at all, ”says Christine Pettinger, manager and election manager of the Isen market. The safety measures here are similar to those in Dorfen: there are small amounts of disinfectant, gloves and also protection for the mouth. A safety distance of two or even three meters is also taken into account.
Administrative community Oberding
In Oberding, not only a few election workers canceled due to fear, there are also a few in quarantine. “But everything is still fine with us. We have the same helpers as for the main election and we can also call in forces from the poll. We also get a lot of inquiries from volunteers who want to support us in an emergency, ”says Gerlinde Rott of the Oberding administration.
"That's why we do everything we can to protect everyone," adds Rott. In addition to the standard gloves and disinfectants, every available space is used to adequately separate the election workers.
In Forstern you are also in good spirits. Election director Gerlinde Wimmer says that she has to report some cancellations because of Corona. But it is mainly about risk people. “We are currently fully staffed with 27 election workers for Sunday. Even if the worst comes to the worst, we have people who would step in in an emergency, ”says Wimmer. She is also very grateful for her dedicated team and for every single helper who is available. "Of course I'm happy when they come and I want to protect everyone from infection." The gyms are counted by far. There are also disinfectants and gloves.
The situation in Erding is somewhat different, as press spokesman Christian Wanninger explains. Sufficient distance is guaranteed, but there are no additional security measures for the almost 120 election workers. But you can bring gloves or the like yourself.
All respondents agreed on one point: This year the situation was completely new. However, everyone is confident that everything will go well on Sunday. (FRANZISKA POLENZ)
