Parents who work in so-called systemically relevant professions have the option of accommodating their children in emergency care. But many do not use the offer - out of concern.

Landkreis - A couple in Unterhaching have had the two young children in emergency care for a little more than a week. Both doctors and thus active in systemically relevant professions. At first, the parents were worried that the children could become infected and become infected with Corona because the children were thrown together from several kindergartens. The situation has now eased and the children are distributed among the individual facilities.

A maximum of one to four children in AWO facilities

The department manager for daycare centers at AWO Munich-Land, Susanne Schroeder, is currently talking about a moderate level of use of the emergency care. The AWO operates 23 bacon-wrapped facilities around Munich. A maximum of one to four children are accommodated in six of them. The trend is increasing, because the professional groups have been expanded. In the meantime, one parent who works in systemically relevant professions is sufficient. This includes medical staff, nursing professions, police officers, firefighters. Susanne Schröder notes that relatively few parents make use of the possibility of emergency care so that the children do not become infected in this way: "It is used cautiously."

Most only look after one child

There have been no corona cases since the basic closure in the AWO daycare centers. A maximum of five children can be together. However, this size is not reached at all. “Most actually only look after one child. There is no risk potential. Susanne Schroeder: "Sure, in the crib you can't get the distance of 1.5 meters."

In this context, the AWO also discusses how to best protect employees. Because all available means do not offer 100 percent protection. On the one hand, one does not want to face and scare the children like in the operating room, on the other hand, the caregivers have no efficient protective masks at all. "We are sewing some. An employee in the home office is busy with it. ”Of course there are employees who are very afraid to get infected. But in these cases it is easy to get sick. "I would prefer it if someone with very great concerns protects himself and stays at home." Of course, chronically ill people and employees over 60 years have the permission to stay at home.

Caritas was expecting a lot more visitors

Christian Müller is head of the Caritas Association for day care centers in the Munich district. He calls up the current numbers. Again, it is much less than expected. Caritas looks after around 4,000 children in the city and district, currently 33. Müller originally expected many parents to be at the door who demand emergency care, even though they are not authorized to do so. He can understand employers who would like to keep their employees happy and also employees who suddenly find themselves without care. Some would then try to be included in emergency care who are not authorized to do so. Such incidents have actually occurred, but not on a large scale. For example, he had the case of a lawyer who didn't want to miss his assistant. But most people, Müller said, showed a great understanding of the restrictions. In any case, he assumes that the parents will try to take care of the children at home as far as possible.

Violence in families could increase

Müller has noticed a very questionable development for a few days. It worries him the most. Not in the district, but already in the city more and more children are getting emergency care based on a recommendation from the youth welfare office. "I could imagine that the number will increase if the condition persists." This is because some families were already not intact anyway. The tension does not decrease in such extreme situations, but worsens. The Caritas director assumes that violence will increase and that families will be disrupted. Anyone who has a child at home knows that quasi-quarantine causes stress. “I've never walked as much as I do now. I now know all the ducks in my area with their first and last names. ”If the pressure on parents to work and raise money increases, the situation becomes dramatic. The mixture of family and economic problems will result in an explosive mixed situation in some communities after Easter at the latest, according to Müller's forecast. He could not imagine how it should go on. "People need money. Many turn the wheel. "

Daycare centers are thoroughly disinfected

In the Munich district, the world is not yet so bleak: More children will come to the municipal daycare centers in Grasbrunn from Monday. Head Nicole Zeh comes up with numbers: in a facility that is designed for 240 children, there are five to six children. "We make sure that we keep the groups small. But it is also important that they have a playmate. ”Things are going pretty well in the kindergartens, so far there has been no confirmed Corona case. The cleaning staff disinfects all contact surfaces every day, and so it is hoped that the virus will remain outside.
