The Fiqh Scientific Council at the Ministry of Awqaf approved the expedited expulsion of Zakat before the end of the year due to the current conditions and the precautionary measures taken to tackle the Corona virus.
The Fatwa of the Majlis included, according to a statement today, that Sana received a copy of it, that in these exceptional circumstances it is permissible to expedite the payment of Zakat before completing the year for those who have the quorum specified in the details of the fatwa.
In its fatwa, the council called on the rich and the owners of funds to pay charity and aid in all its forms in these circumstances and not be satisfied with the imposed zakat, and that priority should be given to paying charity now to support the health sector and provide its requirements.
The Council indicated that it is permissible in the zakat of trade offers to be among the appointed of these offers, i.e. merchants of foodstuffs and commodities necessary for them to pay their zakat from these same commodities.
The Council clarified that whoever works daily and does not have a quorum may be entitled to zakat, especially for those who have stopped working.
