Beirut-Sana
Last night, the Lebanese security forces removed the sit-in tents held by protesters in Al-Shuhada and Riyadh al-Solh square in central Beirut since last October 17 in protest against the living situation, high prices and the imposition of new taxes.
The Lebanese Ministry of Interior said in a statement today that, in light of the increase in encroachments on public and private properties and on pedestrians in the two courtyards of Riad El-Solh and Shuhada in central Beirut, the latest of which was a problem that occurred with an ambassador of foreign countries, the security forces were forced to work last night to remove these tents.
Meanwhile, protest actions were renewed this afternoon in the Akkar region in northern Lebanon, where the people of Halba and a number of protesters organized a massive sit-in in front of the municipality building to protest the deteriorating living conditions of Lebanese citizens.
Protesters tried to enter the building, but security forces prevented them.
