Berlin / Hamburg (dpa) - Because of bans imposed in the corona crisis, the police have acted in some places against unauthorized demonstrators.
In the afternoon, officials at the Kottbusser Tor in the Kreuzberg district of Berlin dissolved a spontaneous gathering of more than 200 people. There were several arrests, the police said on Twitter. The meeting was not registered and violated the current restrictions to contain the corona pandemic. The right to demonstrate is currently restricted due to the corona pandemic.
The police had previously blocked Boxhagener Platz in Berlin-Friedrichshain. According to a spokesman, around 150 people had stayed there.
In addition, according to a spokeswoman, the Berlin police instructed participants in a rally in Mitte under the motto "Defend fundamental rights - say no to the dictatorship!" right.
Officials said the event was not allowed, and some had added personal information. The spokeswoman did not know how many people were there. Contrary to what was planned, speeches were dispensed with at the rally, said demo co-initiator Anselm Lenz. According to him, one goal of the rally was to raise awareness of the importance of the first 20 articles of the Basic Law in the face of the Corona crisis.
The Hamburg police also dissolved a prohibited demonstration for refugees' right to stay. The approximately 30 demonstrators had put up posters on the square near Hamburg Central Station. According to official regulations, the demonstrators had kept a sufficient distance from each other, said a police spokesman. However, the meeting was unannounced and banned anyway due to the general ban on contacts. Therefore, officials recorded the protesters' personal details and gave them orders to leave the country. According to the information, there were no incidents.
