The term "Social Security" couldn't be more relevant these days. We have all been hurt during this period - those who are unemployed, or who have reduced their income and who lost their pension, savings and investments.
Real property prices have also been hit, at least in the short term. Therefore, instead of squabbling over criteria, according to those who worked six months before the crisis and those who did not; One who has received his salary as an independent, or as an employee; Anyone of a certain age or not ... There is a transitional fee - for everyone, just as it was in the US, where every graduate received $ 1,200 in compensation to the bank and every child received $ 500 in compensation. It would also cost us less.
Finger calculation shows that compensation of about 6.1 million NIS 3,000 per person and about 3 million NIS 500 each would cost NIS 20 billion to the state coffers. After all, there is no point in listing a million employees as unemployed, if they are not really unemployed at all and most of them will not compensate for a sum close to what they were earning earlier.
In the latest program released, the state has allocated NIS 7 billion to pay unemployment benefits to those 800,000 unemployed, which will probably reach about a million. That is, it is NIS 8,750 for the months of April-April (one and a half months), and the amount does not include many employees who are not eligible just because the routine criteria do not fit the special situation that we are facing.
Therefore, it was fairer to compensate everyone equally - more fair than the old age pension and the child allowance divided equally in routine - for the rich and the poor.
