Work on the Sylvenstein Dam has so far been going according to plan. Soon you can use the bike path again.

Lenggries - The current work on the Sylvenstein dam is proceeding according to plan. This is what Tobias Lang from Weilheim's water management office says on request. As reported, the fourth inspection lock was replaced this winter. Since the construction site can only be reached via the bike path, it was closed last summer.

In winter, according to Lang, the bike path is always closed anyway for safety reasons. "It drips in the bike tunnel, icicles hang from the ceiling." After the winter, the bike path must first be made suitable for summer. "But we have nothing to do with this," says Lang, who refers to the district office and the municipality. In late April and early May it is normally possible to cycle on the cycle path again. By then, the work will most likely be completed. "It could just be that we have to block the way for two more weeks."

Steel hydraulic engineering test runs planned for April

In the meantime, the companies are working flat out on installing and concreting everything. Steel hydraulic engineering test runs are planned for April.

According to Lang, the snow-poor winter had no influence on the work. It is important that these are carried out in times of low water. The floods created something there four weeks ago. But on the whole, the weather had no effect.

Work will likely continue until May

The dam itself will be rather quiet this year. "Concrete renovations are on the inside," says Lang. If the bike path is open again, it does not mean that the hydraulic steelwork is finished. "By the time everything is really ready, it will probably be in the middle of the year." Technically operational, but the construction is likely to be in early May.

It gets a little quieter on Sylvensteindamm. "But then there are other waters," said Lang. "The work is not going out."
