The head of the Employment Bureau said the following when it referred to the possibility of tightening restrictions • The unemployment rate today stands at 22.7 percent • From yesterday at 17:00 until the morning, 5,373 new job seekers were registered
The Employment Service reported this morning (Monday) on what appears to be another slowdown in the enrollment of new job seekers. From 5pm yesterday to 5am this morning, 5,373 job seekers were registered.
As of the beginning of March, 786,991 new enrollees were enrolled in the employment bureaus, with 90 percent of them spending abroad. Now, the unemployment rate is 22.7 percent.
Yesterday, on March 29, there were a total of 23,946, up from 21,932 last Friday and 42,860 on Thursday. These numbers do not include 175,000 self-employed unemployed and tens of thousands of other unemployed young people, mainly young people, who do not meet the threshold conditions for continuous work in the last six months and who are not eligible for unemployment benefits. Today, every fourth employee in Israel, and every second head of household, is unemployed.
Rami Graur, CEO of the Employment Service, was interviewed this morning by IDF waves, and estimated that "if the restrictions are tightened, we will cross the threshold of one million unemployed in early April."
