State security is now investigating a possible election forgery in Wessobrunn. In the run-up to the local elections on March 15, the police had moved into the community and confiscated voting papers. There is even a request for legal assistance abroad.
Wessobrunn - In Wessobrunn there was an irregularity with incorrectly filled out ballot papers shortly before the local elections. Mayor Helmut Dinter himself reported to the home newspaper. The police do not take the matter lightly and investigate. And that across the German borders and because of electoral fraud, as press spokesman Martin Emig from the police headquarters in Upper Bavaria South Rosenheim confirms on request.
Since then, the state security department of the Weilheim criminal police and the Munich II public prosecutor have been dealing with the case. This announces press spokesman Emig. "Various investigations" were initiated. Also in Poland, where a request for legal assistance has been made. However, one has to wait for the international procedure first, according to Rosenheim. Which can be a long time coming given the current crisis situation.
At that time, the police had been informed by the Wessobrunn election management. The criminal police made their way to the community. The Rosenheim police headquarters does not disclose further details of the procedure with reference to the investigation.
Wessobrunn's mayor Dinter had reported to the newspaper that there was probably a personal motive for the incident. According to him, a citizen who rents apartments to Polish workers has apparently "forbidden his tenants to vote for me because of anger over a dispute with the municipality, otherwise he would throw them out of the apartment". In order to be on the safe side, the citizen in question apparently filled out the postal ballot papers themselves, Dinter informed the editorial staff in a telephone call shortly before the election on March 15. According to him, three apartments were searched at the time. The police also confiscated ten ballots that had already been handed in. Five of the Poles in question have already returned home. According to the mayor, a DNA comparison was also made. The police did not comment on this test on request.
Dinter himself has never heard of the police. "There is absolute radio silence." Nevertheless, it is important to him that the matter is cleared up. No matter what comes out of it. Because electoral fraud “is one of the most serious crimes in a democracy,” he emphasizes when asked.
Dinter was voted out on March 15 after twelve years in office. His challenger Georg Guggemos (create together) received 55.8 percent of the vote, Dinter (list for everyone) got 44.2 percent.
