"He came to the clinic in a poor general condition and showed the classic symptoms," explains Hansjörg Wiesböck from the Health Department. As the test showed, the elderly patient was actually infected with the pathogen.
The experts have to take a sober view of the situation - despite all the tragedy. "It will probably not be the last dead person, you have to be so honest in this situation," emphasizes a representative of the office. "Especially in a district with our demographic structure." However, the experts make it clear that a sick person in this old age and in his condition could possibly have died from "normal" influenza. "That's why there is a recommendation, especially for older people, to get vaccinated against the flu."

26 people healthy again
