In times of the corona crisis, salespeople also face new challenges. Retail salesman Michael Herbig appeals to customers' reason in a letter.

Wolfratshausen - There are many obvious heroes in the Corona crisis, including doctors and nurses. But there are also numerous hidden heroes in everyday life. Michael Herbig, branch manager of the Müller drugstore chain in Wolfratshausen, draws attention to this in a letter. At the same time, he criticizes the behavior of some customers.

Corona crisis: Many hidden heroes in everyday life

"Whether I am a branch manager or a cashier, sales consultant, service employee, cleaner or cleaner: These days we are at the forefront of supply for the whole of Germany," writes Herbig. Right now, he and his team are "more challenged than ever before" in sales. Not to forget: the increased risk of infection to which employees are exposed every day due to customer contact.

No longer uncommon: abuse and handshakes from customers

However, some customers would not appreciate this, reports the 35-year-old. On the contrary: insults or even violent acts against the sellers are no longer uncommon in the drugstore. Most of the time it is about "vain things", such as the limited sales of toilet paper. "We hold the position for Germany! Please keep this in mind when you make your next purchase, ”the branch manager therefore appeals.

Among the retailers are parents who do not know who should look after their child. People who wonder how their jobs are going or who are afraid for their health. Herbig therefore finds it "insolent" to object to why the drugstore does not open until 10 p.m. and on Sundays, as theoretically permitted. As branch manager, he wanted to protect his employees as well as try to give everything for the customer to "get through the difficult time as well as possible".

"To survive the difficult time as well as possible"

Without their help, however, this would “not be possible”. Therefore, the 35-year-old asks his clientele to support the salespeople right now. Just by observing the hygiene rules and the safety distance, everyone can do their part.

"If something is no longer available, please do not hold the seller responsible." After thinking again, it may not be so bad to get the mascara or the DVD a few days later. "Maybe we all - especially these days - have to grab our noses before we confront other people with our anger, fear or stress."
