Israeli prisons are gearing up for the national effort to fight the spread of the corona virus: Prisoners from central and southern prisons have in recent weeks begun to produce multi-front goggles to prevent corona virus infection. The production process is done at the prison service's employment system.
Goggles are an essential product that protects the face from direct infection and are sold at cost prices to health ministry inspectors, police and other security forces, especially those who come in contact with the verified patient population or those who are suspected of being infected, and are at high risk of exposure to the virus.
The goggles are manufactured at prisons manufacturing centers around the country, including Ayalon, Salmon, Hermon, Pomegranates, and Palm. Gunder Mishna Nissim Kashi, IPS head of employment, explains the idea All of them benefit: "Security forces receive an important product to protect their lives at a cost price, and the prisoners are employed and worked for wages, and so these days of reducing movements and scope of work they find themselves contributing to the national effort in the war against the virus."
Work on the special binoculars is done in accordance with the Ministry of Health guidelines. In each production hall no more than ten prisoners are produced, and since this is a product that does not require machinery work, some of the work is inserted into the flanks themselves, where prisoners can continue to work with a high level of privacy.
