Josefsheim can now help more spontaneously: quick action in case of hardship

The groups call themselves "Noah", "Christopherus" or "Benedict" and thus make the connection to the Catholic Church clear. "Michael", "Don Bisco" or the outpatient services "Elisabeth" are other names. Some of them hide brand new offers from the Seraphisches Liebeswerk in Josefsheim Wartenberg. The operating license has recently been issued for these. It should be possible to react spontaneously and immediately in the event of special hardship.

Wartenberg - In essence, it is about more flexibility in the two curative education children's living groups, each with eight children between the ages of six and twelve or adolescents between the ages of ten and 16. At a press conference in front of the current corona restrictions, General Manager Martin Hagner presented the concepts developed with the district youth welfare office under the direction of Peter Stadick.

They are groups in which staff have to be on site around the clock. The effort is correspondingly high. Eight full-time positions are calculated per group. They are consistently children and adolescents¸ with whom life was not meant well. The facility manager did not want to give any details.

Two new places are new, one in each of the two - then nine-member - groups. They are kept in cases in which the authorities have to react quickly in the sense of taking the children into care. The reasons for this are dramatic - sudden death of the single mother, or the authorities find sexual abuse. Hagner also showed a terrifying photo of a messie household from which children had to be quickly removed.

Flexibility should also be made possible in another area. In the “Anna” day care center with five places plus substitute care, you can now react quickly if a childminder suddenly falls ill and the parents don't know what to do. “You can reach someone here from seven in the morning,” says Hagner.

Second support and support class?

Another important point is what Hagner called relief care. What if foster parents are temporarily unable to look after the foster child due to illness in their own family, but the care relationship should not be terminated? There is now a fallback solution here. That was the only point where District Administrator Martin Bayerstorfer intervened and emphasized that such offers are important for foster parents. "We have to keep them going. We urgently need more foster parents anyway. ”There are currently 50 foster parents across the district.

For the sake of completeness, he mentioned the all-day offers at the Marie Pettenbeck School under the group name "Ursula" and the support and support class "Valentin" in Dorfen, which could possibly get company in the foreseeable future through a second facility of this kind in the district area, when the need becomes obvious.

In total, Hagner added, there were 220 children, adolescents and young adults in the care of the Seraphische Liebeswerk, for whom around 60 employees were there.

Christian Pröbst, newly elected municipal leader and currently 3rd mayor of Wartenberg, was relieved by the development: "Three years ago I was really worried about Josefsheim," he said. Hagner could now demonstrate that all parts of the building are back in operation. In some cases there is still expansion to offer single rooms for the young people.
