Syrian official news agency SNA reported Tuesday that Syrian military air defense systems thwarted an Israeli attack in the Homs area.
According to the report in Syria: "Air defense systems will intercept hostile targets in Homs airspace." Lebanon's media reported that the attack was carried out by Israeli fighter jets that fired missiles from Lebanon's airspace near Beirut.
Lebanese news agencies reported that the Israeli air force stayed for about 15 minutes in the airspace of the village of Sarwan just north of Beirut, launching missiles aimed at IDF complexes and long-range missiles for the pro-Iranian missiles in Homs in central Syria.
It was also reported that the Syrian Army air defense systems were operating and anti-aircraft missiles were fired, but it is unclear whether they were able to intercept missiles fired from fighter jets. According to various reports on social networks in Syria, strong explosions have been heard in the Homs area, but it is unclear what the extent of the damage was and whether there were casualties. Syria's official media has claimed responsibility for the airstrike on Israel.
