But now that his eldest son is taking the master craftsman exam and will relieve the father of his long-term job, Hartman sees the opportunity to finally "get involved with my city and the people".
Sure, he will have to adjust his wake-sleep rhythm a little bit. "So far I got up at a quarter past 2 and then rested in the afternoon." However, he will have to be awake in the afternoon, especially for the committee meetings. However, the 51-year-old is optimistic that he can "already change".
As a native of Dachau, as a self-employed person, he sees himself in the city council as a man of compromise: he just doesn't want to see anything dogmatically, "never break his knee", but simply to find "good solutions". This includes building a bit higher in the city instead of going more and more into the area.
And in his eyes, this also includes a bypass: "We have to get the cars out of the city before we slowly switch to more cycle paths and more public transport."
He never would have expected that so many Dachauers would put their trust in him for this request, "that the list goes so far forward, I would never have expected". He would like to thank all of his voters all the more - and, from May on, return the favor with his “pragmatic policy for all”.
