Unemployment in the Corona crisis breaks new records: The number of new unemployed since March is 811,824 people - 89.8% of them on unpaid leave and 6.4% laid off, the Employment Service updated Tuesday.

In December, the unemployment rate was 3.6% and, following the crisis, jumped to a high of 23.3%. On Monday, there were 23,978 unemployed, on Sunday - 23,946, and last Friday - 21,978.

According to the updated Employment Service data, the main casualties of the crisis are the women who make up 57.7% of the unemployed in March, compared to 42.3% men.

Employment profile presented the new unemployed profile: 37.3% of boys and girls 20-34; 45.6% boys and girls 35-54; 14.6% of boys and girls 55 plus; And 2.5% by age 20.

By District: Tel Aviv stands at the top with 18.4% unemployed. In the Galilee and the North - 16%, joined by 11.2% in Haifa, 15.5% in Jerusalem and Judea, and 13.8% in Beer Sheva and the South.

Among those dismissed following the crisis: 4,000 women undergoing childbirth, pregnancy or maternity leave, self-employed by the age of 28, housewives, as well as 299,296 young couples newly married and one of the couple left without work. In more than 164,000 families with two children, the main earner was fired and there are more than 77,000 families with one child with the main earner left out of work.

Also dismissed - widows and divorced abandoned by their husbands, tens of thousands of descending Israelis and Israeli students who returned to Israel after the outbreak of the Corona epidemic - they have no succession of rights in Social Security and sick funds, and tens of thousands of Israeli backpackers flown to Israel from around the world.
