LE FIGARO.- What is the situation of African countries vis-à-vis Covid-19?

Augustin AUGIER. - Today, the Covid-19 is in Africa and we have no scientific evidence suggesting that we will not have the same epidemic curve in Africa as in the rest of the world. We have a duty to prepare according to the scientific knowledge we have. One of the problems, which we see with many other pathologies in Africa, is the invisible. These are often invisible cases.

In most African countries, there is only one laboratory capable of testing and which can do 500 tests a day at best. It is obvious that in rural areas the sick cannot be detected. People are not used to going to health centers when they are sick, and there will be no collection kit or supply chain to transfer it to a laboratory anyway. So what we see of cases in Africa probably reflects only a tiny proportion
