Inside the department, two other police officers ambushing outside the police station immediately took action and arrested 3 male middle school students aged 16 to 18 for "arson". Two of the arrested persons have protested and attacked police officers, so the police will increase the charge for "attack the police". The case will be followed up by the first team of the District Crime Squad of Tai Po. The three arrested persons will be detained for investigation overnight; the police will continue to investigate and do not rule out more arrests.
In the first three months of the year, the police recorded 16 petrol bomb attacks on police buildings involving 71 petrol bombs. A total of 7 men and 1 woman were arrested, aged between 16 and 62. Superintendent Zhuang Chengyi observed from the recent case observations that the arrested people have a younger trend. He pointed out that some people may think that young people will be sentenced lightly, and they will not even bear criminal responsibility. This is a wrong view. Because the manufacture or storage of petrol bombs is a serious crime, throwing petrol bombs into buildings can result in personal injury and death, and "arson" can be sentenced to life imprisonment.
Superintendent Zhuang Chengyi cited the recent court ruling as an example. He was sentenced to 12 months in jail for possession of petrol bombs. "Everyone can imagine that throwing petrol bombs will far exceed this punishment." He hoped that young people should not try the law in person. Zhuang also urged parents to communicate with their children and strengthen their law-abiding spirit and the importance of the rule of law, so that they will not be easily incited by others. He reiterated that no criminal acts would be tolerated and that serious follow-up would be necessary to bring the perpetrators to justice
