(CNN Spanish) - The president of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, recognized as interim president by more than 50 countries, rejected on Tuesday the summons of the Attorney General's Office.

In an interview with the EVTV channel, he said: “My constitutional prerogatives as president of parliament and president in charge do not give any function, much less to a usurper to quote me. I should cite, for example, those who are accused of drug trafficking. "

Venezuela's attorney general, Tarek William Saab, issued a summons to Guaidó in the middle of the investigation that opened his office for "attempted coup and assassination."

The summons was delivered to Guaidó's chief of security on Monday night, Saab announced on state television VTV.

The case relates to retired General Clíver Alcalá, who from Colombia said on Friday that he participated in an alleged plot with Juan Guaidó to introduce weapons to Venezuela and carry out a military action against the government of Nicolás Maduro.

Juan Guaidó's press team told CNN that Guaidó did not know Alcalá, that there was no contract between the two, and denied that the political leader had any relation to the case.

The Venezuelan government has repeatedly accused Guaidó of being involved in conspiracies to overthrow Maduro. The opposition leader has in the past dismissed those accusations that he even refers to as "stories" or "novels."

Alcalá is part of the group of current and former Venezuelan officials - Maduro included - that the US Justice Department accused of drug trafficking and for which he offered a millionaire reward for his capture. He was extradited the same Friday from Barranquilla.

The Maduro government had previously reported that it had detected an attempt to enter arms through the border with Colombia and accused Alcalá Cordones of wanting to carry out "selective killings, assassination, and attempted placement of explosive devices."

"We have issued a summons to appear in this Public Ministry next Thursday at 9 in the morning to one of the main perpetrators, according to Clíver Alcalá. I mean then the citizen Juan Guaidó, ”announced the Venezuelan attorney general on Tuesday.
