A fan of light-painting, artist Roy Wang wanted to pay tribute to the medical staff in his own way.

Like Saint Michael slaying the dragon, he wears wings over his protective suit. In China, an artist photographer stages an archangel at the service of the fight against the coronavirus. The creature imagined by Roy Wang, 32, sends a message of hope from Beijing to patients infected with Covid-19 and their caregivers.

With the technique of light painting (or "light painting"), the Chinese artist makes a white lamp evolve in the dark on the back of his motionless model, dressed in an integral suit as worn by doctors and nurses.

After two minutes of exposure, the result appears on the photo: the artist drew two large angel wings sparkling in the night. Next to it, a neon green ball symbolizes the virus that appeared in late 2019 in central China, killing more than 3,312 people in the country, according to the latest report announced on Wednesday.

Medical personnel wear full coveralls. It's very hard. They have to work every day and doctors have sacrificed themselves.

Roy Wang, who has been practicing light painting for ten years, wanted to pay tribute to the medical personnel embarked on the battle against the coronavirus. In China alone, at least 3,300 of them have been infected and thirteen have died, officials said. “The medical staff wear full suits. It's very hard. They have to work every day and doctors have sacrificed themselves, ” recalls the artist.

In another project, he writes polyglot messages to countries affected by the virus in light letters. "Stay at home" , enjoins its French version. "We will get out of this mess and the planet will get better. It is the challenge of humanity, ”he hopes.
