Johns Hopkins University today announced that the number of coronavirus deaths in the United States has exceeded 4,000, which has more than doubled in three days.
Agence France-Presse quoted the university, which is a reference for tracking injuries and deaths caused by the epidemic, as saying that 4,076 people have died of Corona virus to date since the start of the epidemic, compared to 2010 deaths last Saturday.
The university noted that 865 people have died of HIV infection in the United States during the past 24 hours, in the highest daily toll recorded in this country.
The new toll came hours after US President Donald Trump warned his citizens that they would face two "very, very painful" weeks in the fight against Corona, which continues to claim increasing numbers of victims, especially in New York.
Meanwhile, health authorities in New York announced that the number of dead people with the Corona virus in the city has exceeded 1,000.
According to the latest data, a total of 1096 deaths among 41,771 patients were recorded in the city, while 8,549 patients were transferred to hospitals for treatment.
The state of New York is the largest epicenter of the emerging epidemic of Corona virus in the United States, where the death toll exceeded 1500 cases and infections 75 thousand out of about 190 thousand infections nationwide.
