The family cancer aid "Sonnenherz" calls for the support of a Eurasburger who has been fighting for her life for four years. Your son is nine years old.

Eurasburg - In 2016, Natascha's life turned completely upside down. Doctors diagnosed the Eurasburger with bronchial carcinoma and gave her only a few weeks to live. The 51-year-old did not want to accept that, she wanted to prove "that it is incurable curable" and set off on a rocky road.

Several cycles of chemotherapy followed, along with radiation and hospitalizations lasting several weeks. The chemical cocktail that was supposed to kill the cancer cells in her body weakened Natascha - physically and mentally. "I'm quickly exhausted, weak and out of breath," she says. In addition, she suffers from itching, shingles and persistent diarrhea. "There is hardly any side effect that passed me." She also lost her hair - and finally her husband, who separated from her during this difficult time.

The original bronchial carcinoma has now metastasized to the brain, liver and spleen. Some lymph nodes are also affected. Nevertheless, the 51-year-old remains optimistic. Giving up is not an option for the 51-year-old - also because of her nine-year-old son. "I want to survive and fight for it every day," she says. A struggle that sometimes pushes them to the limits of their resilience and scares the single mother.

"Sonnenherz" carefully checks all information

There are also financial worries. The cancer made Natascha unable to work, she lost her job. For a year and a half she looked for a mini job and an affordable apartment - both without success. Potential employers and landlords shook their heads as soon as they found out about the disease. She alone cannot fully raise the money for renting her current apartment, for incidental and ongoing living costs and for the necessary medication.

In her distress, the Eurasian turned to the family cancer aid Sonnenherz. Christian Neumeir founded the non-profit entrepreneurial company based in Mauern near Moosburg in 2017. "The occasion was the leukemia disease of a three-year-old (now recovering) girl in my neighborhood," says the initiator and managing director. "I just wanted to help."

The organization has grown steadily since then and currently has eight employees. Thanks to his projects and fundraisers, Sonnenherz was able to support six families affected by the disease in 2018 with a total of over 91,000 euros.

"Like most patients," said Neumeir, Natascha initially wrote to his organization. "That was at the end of 2019." A colleague then took a look at the site - and found that help is urgently needed. Neumeir attaches importance to the fact that Sonnenherz checks all information. "This also includes an insight into patient files or correspondence with authorities." In the case of the Eurasburgerin, the organization asks for donations to "make things somewhat easier for Nataschas and her son's."

Natascha has a great hope: "I hope that at some point I will not only be a grandmother, but also that I can also be a granny." What gives her renewed strength to survive and to live on is next to her son social neighborhood network that she has built up.
