The outbreak of COVID-19 new coronavirus pneumonia continues. The Macau Procuratorate said on Thursday (April 2) that it had decided to sue eight persons suspected of violating medical observation regulations during the epidemic prevention period, including five Macau residents, two foreign domestic helpers and one Hong Kong resident.

The procuratorate stated that eight persons involved in the case had entered the country in mid-March. According to the entry measures at that time, 14-day medical observation was required at the designated place. One of the Macao residents left the country without permission on the day of entry, and one foreign employee gave a false address. Escape the inspection and conceal the situation and continue to work; the rest of the people go out for pickup or parking for various reasons, leave the designated residence or hotel room one or more times without authorization, and some people even receive others in the hotel room.

The procuratorate said that eight people may be sentenced to a maximum of 6 months or 60 days in prison for suspected violations of epidemic prevention measures, and 3 years or a fine in prison for falsely reporting documents.

In addition, in the early days when the Macau government started selling protective masks, a citizen was accused of contaminating the 320 masks offered by the health center with saliva and snot when contaminated by the Coloane Health Center when they were required to replace the masks placed. It was scrapped; the procuratorate will prosecute him for "aggravating the crime of damage", and the maximum penalty is 5 years or 600 days.
