Weilheim - Münchner Strasse was closed early Friday afternoon at the junction for the train station. The reason for this was a small fire on a balcony, not a roof truss fire as originally assumed.
Balcony fire in Weilheim - flower pot, parasol and seating are burning
How it finally came to be that a flower pot, a parasol and a small seating area burned cannot be said exactly. The 41-year-old resident had to make a phone call and, according to his own statement, pressed the cigarette into the ashtray, the Weilheim police say. As Konrad Bischel, First Commander of the Weilheim Volunteer Fire Brigade, explains, the resident had already deleted everything by himself until the volunteers arrived.
The roof truss of the house was checked, but was not damaged in the fire, according to the Weilheim police.
The property damage cannot currently be precisely determined. The resident was not injured. The voluntary fire brigade in Weilheim was deployed with around 20 men and five vehicles. The emergency services were also on site as a precaution.
