Penzberg - Sabrina Ripellino "turned my dream into a job" about six years ago with her "children's pony car", as she says. On the Zisthof near Penzberg, the riding therapist and educator set up the so-called children's pony mobile - a facility with which she offers, among other things, animal-assisted therapies for children, families or seniors. Ripellino also gives riding lessons, organizes holiday camps and a wide variety of courses.

Usually up to 80 children and teenagers come every week

Up to 80 children and teenagers from all over the Oberland to Munich, she says, come to the farm every week to ride here and spend happy hours with the animals. Usually. Because in the wake of the Corona crisis and the associated exit restrictions, Ripellino had to close her children's pony car.

No income for feed, farrier and veterinarian

Riding and therapy lessons may no longer take place. Ripellino's income has broken down and the money is missing to buy food for her 19 horses, ponies or alpacas. "We have no more income," Ripellino describes the situation. But expenses related to the animals remained; including the costs for farrier and veterinarian. Fortunately, the farm owner would lease her. "I released my savings," she says. This would allow them to bridge a little time. Somehow. "But if it takes longer, it will be difficult."

Susanne Gleich, who knows Ripellino and her Ponymobil from her own visits, says that they are currently simply fighting for “survival”. That's going to be bad, because Ripellino runs the company "with a lot of love and passion". Equally, a horse needs an average of around three euros hay and straw a day. For this alone, Ripellino needs almost 1800 euros per month for 19 horses.

Ponymobil supporter has started an appeal for donations

A call for donations has already started to secure the continued existence of the Ponymobil. Because she wishes that visitors big and small can spend many happy hours with the animals - "the loyal and beloved friends" - even after the Corona crisis. Some people have already donated; donations even came from northern Germany.

On the one hand, Ripellino is of course extremely grateful for this support. On the other hand, it makes her uncomfortable, because: "I don't want to beg." But she also knows that the consequences, should there be no more money for the care of the animals, would be bad. For you and your family. But also for the many children who have lost their hearts to a four-legged friend.
