This was confirmed by a spokeswoman for Kursana, who runs the facility, the FT late Wednesday afternoon (April 1): “As of April 1, 14 residents were tested positive for Sars-CoV-2 . We have taken appropriate measures. "
Accordingly, nine affected residents were transferred to the hospital , and five are currently being isolated in the house. "Unfortunately, three residents who also tested positive for Corona died in the hospital," continues the Kursana spokeswoman. "As far as we know, the cause of death was not the corona infection in these three cases." There is close communication with the responsible authorities and coordination of the further procedure.

How the infection came about is still unclear. "So far we have no knowledge of the infection chain, " explains the spokeswoman. It is said that it was not due to the lack of protective equipment for the employees of the facility. "We have sufficient quantities of protective equipment."

This is far from being the case in all senior care facilities. In Moosburg Dr. Karl Heinz Holzer a different picture - one that does not bode well. The surgeon has his practice in the former Moosburg hospital. The senior residence "Haus Moosburg" is located on the upper floors of the same building, in the immediate vicinity of the AWO senior residence park.
Doctor in great concern: no corona protection for home staff in Moosburg
"I regularly treat the residents of both facilities with surgery and medical care," reports Holzer. He is a regular witness to the intolerable conditions under which the personnel there are currently forced to work. The employees of both houses have to do without protective clothing - even though they are in close contact with the residents.
"If even an infected employee with missing clinical symptoms works in the facilities, all residents will become infected," predicts Holzer. "The high-risk patients of the two senior homes can already see the dramatic consequences of a corona infection." 110 carers in the AWO senior park, 30 in the Moosburg house, would be affected. The two homes offer that many places, at least according to information on the respective homepage.
Corona in the Freising district: "When will the necessary protective clothing come?"
The home management of the AWO is not allowed to provide any press information itself and refers to the corporate communication of the AWO district association of Upper Bavaria. There, despite numerous attempts, the FT did not get any employees on the phone. Ines Mann, managing director of Haus Moosburg, in turn explained that she did not want to provide any information on the subject of corona protective clothing under her roof.
No protection: Apparently there are no FFP2 masks for employees in the AWO retirement home either.

Holzer does not blame the home management for the misery. Protection would simply not be available to staff. His final question, which resembles a brand letter: "When will the two facilities finally receive the necessary protective clothing and FFP2 masks for the employees?" Relatives of the elderly can no longer see for themselves how work is done in the homes. The ban on visits imposed by Minister President Markus Söder applies to them, just like everyone else.
