The district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen has so far got off relatively lightly. But now it has also caught the first company in this country where older people are looked after: The very contagious lung disease that keeps the world in suspense and has brought social life to a standstill has now occurred in the Murnau senior center in Kemmelpark
According to Stephan Scharf, spokesman for the district office, when asked about the daily newspaper, four people are affected: three older residents and one carer. Two of the seniors who appear to have more severe symptoms are now being treated in a clinic. The other two were isolated in order not to transmit the pathogen to other people. No further details were available.

We made a total of 140 smears . ”The campaign lasted around 90 minutes.
According to Tagblatt information, 48 senior citizens live there. However, no other corona diseases were found. "You have to keep an eye on the situation," says Scharf. You couldn't do more at the moment. "I think the situation is under control." Another series of tests will probably follow. And potential contacts should be identified. It is unclear who or what triggered the infection . The safety precautions have been tightened in all old people's and nursing homes: For example, a visit ban applies.

The senior center Kemmelpark - managing directors are Dr. Albert and Christel Wentlandt, who operate other houses of this type in the district, are home to two areas: a day care facility for the elderly and two outpatient residential communities for people in need of care . According to Scharf, illnesses among tenants have occurred there. A few days ago, one of the inmates showed the first signs - whereupon the smears for the laboratory were made for all residents and the workforce.
The two bosses are taciturn. The elderly stayed in their single rooms for home quarantine , reports Dr. Albert Wentlandt. They also eat there. "Community activities are at a standstill," he continues. And the carers would wear protective equipment . His wife reacted more emotionally on the phone: "It's all terrible."
The corona pandemic also claimed its first fatality in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district. A 92-year-old man died in the Murnau accident clinic.
