The Director of Commerce and Economic Development Qiu Tenghua said on the 2nd that the expression of The Pulse in Hong Kong and Taiwan ’s English program "The Pulse" is contrary to the one-China principle and the purpose and mission of Radio Television Hong Kong as a public broadcaster in the Charter. He also said that the Director of Broadcasting, as the chief editor of RTHK, "must be held accountable."

In response, the Taiwanese MAC stated today (3rd) that the Hong Kong Basic Law grants Hong Kong people freedom of press and speech, and hopes that the Hong Kong Government will implement safeguards in accordance with law.

RTHK interviewed Bruce Aylward, WHO ’s Assistant Director-General earlier, and asked if the other party would reconsider Taiwan ’s WHO membership. Elward did not respond, and later suspected that “ "Cut line". When the reporter was connected, he asked again. Alward only said that China's epidemic prevention work was good.

The incident aroused criticism from the mainland official media and the establishment faction of Hong Kong and Taiwan. Qiu Tenghua, director of the Bureau of Commerce and Economic Development, said that the expressions in the episodes violated the principle of one China and stipulated by Radio Television Hong Kong as a public broadcaster in the Charter. For the purpose and mission, the Director of Broadcasting, as the chief editor of RTHK, "must be held accountable for this."

In response, the Taiwanese MAC called for the Hong Kong Government to refrain from suppressing the freedom of the people's news and speech, as the Chinese Communist Party, in order to gain public approval.

The MAC emphasizes that the Republic of China is a sovereign country and has the right, ability, and willingness to cooperate with countries in the world to prevent epidemics, and the international community is more affirming Taiwan's medical strength and contribution to epidemic prevention.

The MAC stated that Taiwan's participation in the World Health Organization is a matter of course. The Chinese Communist Party incorrectly quotes the UN General Assembly and WHO resolutions and links with its one-sided "One China Principle" in an attempt to exclude Taiwan from participating. These political operations obviously violate the WHO Charter and the principles of international relations, and even harm the health rights of people in Taiwan and around the world.
