Lichtenberg - The 19-year-old Krist an von Waldenfels has real reason to celebrate on Sunday (March 29). In the runoff election, he was elected mayor in Lichtenberg, Bavaria, in the Hof district. He is now the youngest incumbent in the Free State to sit on the executive chair in the town hall.

In the run-off election for the local elections , the law student who ran for the CSU won 52.5 percent of the vote and thus prevailed over the SPD candidate Jürgen Lindner. With 38 votes more than his opponent, he won. 84 percent of those eligible to vote had participated in the run-off election in Bavaria's second smallest city.
Von Waldenfels already had 48 percent of the voters on his side in the first round of the local election . The 19-year-old, who is studying law at the University of Bayreuth, was just ahead.

After the first ballot , the 19-year-old thanked his voters via Facebook . “A huge, huge thank you for this great result! The fact that I received the most votes in the first ballot, both as a candidate for mayor and as a member of the city council: That is of course fantastic, ”writes von Waldenfels . The result is a "very big vote of confidence".
