New York-SANA

The permanent representative of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, called for the United Nations, the Security Council and the United Nations General Assembly to put pressure on the Israeli occupation authorities to stop their ongoing violations against the Palestinian people and provide them with international protection in light of the spread of the Corona virus.

Wafa reported that Mansour stressed in a letter addressed to both the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, the President of the Security Council and the President of the United Nations General Assembly, that the occupation continues its violations and practices against the Palestinian people by demolishing their homes, bulldozing their lands, seizing them, and forcibly displacing Palestinian families despite the challenges Unprecedented facing the world due to the emerging corona virus.

Mansour said that the prisoners in the occupation camps lack the foundations of public health in addition to their suffering due to the policy of deliberate medical neglect, the lack of doctors, treatment, medical devices and cleaning materials, and the absence of measures to prevent the transmission of the virus to them, calling for the release of more than 5 thousand prisoners, including 180 children and 43 women.

Mansour pointed out that the besieged Gaza Strip for years suffers from dire humanitarian, social and economic conditions as a result of the unjust blockade and the repeated Israeli aggressions that have undermined all aspects of life, leading to the inability to face the Corona virus.

Mansour called on the international community to cooperate and solidarity to protect every person in the world from this virus, including the Palestinian people.
