The Eichenau municipal council has postponed the last meeting of the electoral period that is coming to an end and the first meeting of the newly elected body.
Eichenau - Instead of the usual meeting room in the town hall, the councils meet in the Friesenhalle. This is necessary in order to comply with the distance rules required due to the corona crisis. Both sessions are open to the public. They are scheduled for Tuesday April 28th and Tuesday May 5th. Mayor Peter Münster will inform the Fürstenfeldbrucker Tagblatt of this on request.
Until further notice, the new regulation will also be maintained. "Regardless of other regulations on the part of the federal government or the Free State," added Münster. The Friesenhalle offers the opportunity to let the public participate in the public part of the meetings, at least to a limited extent, said Münster.
In this context, however, he clearly criticized plans from the large district town of Fürstenfeldbruck. There, the parliamentary group leaders Andreas Lohde (CSU), Christian Stangl (Greens) and Philipp Heimerl (SPD) suggested that in the event of a disaster, legally valid resolutions could also be passed in circulation (i.e. in writing) or by video conference. In this regard, they had contacted the parliamentarians of their respective parties. The three local politicians of the district town had thus argued that the city council must remain capable of acting.
For Peter Münster, however, this procedure is an absurdity. Anything that can be dealt with publicly in meetings must also be publicly accessible. The town hall chief assessed Lohde, Stangl and Heimerl's approach in such a way that it could jeopardize parliamentary democracy.
Peter Münster also said that in the municipality of Eichenau there were many offers of help and many committed citizens in the face of the Corona crisis. However, this would only be used to a limited extent. This impression is shared by councilor Gertrud Merkert (SPD) - she is one of the helpers.
