Olching's finances are still in order

Olchings treasurer Robert Schuhbauer spoke of an orderly cash position at the presentation of the 2019 annual accounts in the most recent meeting of the main committee.

Olching - He took note of the figures of almost EUR 87 million in administrative and asset budgets, which were generally positive. The new city council will make the final decision at its inaugural meeting in May.

Nonetheless, there had been cautionary words last year when the budgetary authority's legal supervisory authority approved the 2019 budget. Originally, only two million euros of the total borrowings had been approved. The city then cited an investment volume of 8.5 million euros for social housing, and that 30 percent of the total costs were eligible. So there was nothing standing in the way of approval, but the supervisory authority urged the highest budgetary discipline for the coming years.

Finance officer Marina Freudenstein (SPD) also pointed out that trade tax in 2019 fell short of expectations. The city recorded around 600,000 euros less revenue compared to 2018. Three factors were mentioned in the accountability report: Small and medium-sized businesses were completely closed for reasons of age, other businesses changed locations, and a high level of investment was observed.

The balance sheet for VAT participation was slightly positive. Compared to the budget of EUR 880,000, there was an increase of around EUR 122,500.

Dog tax is seen as an uncertain quantity in the household. The planning, which provided for 48,000 euros, was slightly exceeded. Nevertheless, the report notes that the number of unreported four-legged friends is increasing. The city was dependent on the honesty of its citizens, the administration determined. "In contrast to neighboring municipalities, there has so far been no control pressure through audits," concludes the accountability report. hk
