Russian President Vladimir Putin called for keeping sanitary measures in Russia until next May to contain the spread of the Coruna virus.

"Maintaining sanitary measures until next May is necessary to contain the spread of the new Corona virus in the country," Putin was quoted by Novosti news agency as saying, while chairing a meeting of the Russian Security Council today.

Putin pointed out that the decree to extend the special precautionary measures while continuing the sanitary isolation measures are necessary to contain the spread of the virus infection and said, "We will organize all work from this matter to ensure the implementation of the basic priority which is to care for the life and health of Russian citizens."

Putin announced yesterday to extend the period of domestic isolation in Russia until the thirtieth of this month, in the context of precautionary measures to address the spread of the Corona virus epidemic, stressing the need to mobilize the capabilities of all authorities in the federal, regional and local levels to confront this epidemic.

To date, there have been 4,149 cases of coronavirus infection in Russia and 34 deaths.
