AfD senses electoral fraud and calls for recounting

In a letter to Mayor Dr. Sigrid Meierhofer (SPD) and in a press release AfD district chairman Helmut Filser speaks "of indications of an incorrect counting of AfD votes". The far right party assumes that there are disagreements, particularly regarding the result of Albert Grasegger, who stood for the AfD but switched to the Bayern party immediately after the election.

What Filser complains: He and Heiner Zann had initially collected most of the votes that had been cast for the AfD candidates. Then, all of a sudden, the AfD screech chief claims to have experienced an extremely sharp increase in favor of Albert Grasegger. The town hall spokeswoman Ute Leitner confirms this after consulting with election manager Thomas Bader and also provides an explanation. “Most postal voters have chosen Mr. Grasegger. The leap results from this. ”The administration rejects a recount that the AfD had requested. Bader told the AfD clearly in a letter. "Mr. Filser was unable to provide any evidence," says Leitner. It was not yet clear on Friday whether the AfD would accept the town hall's opinion. "We have not received anything. So I can't say anything about that yet, ”Filser explains by email.

Grasegger's change to the Bavarian party - a "mess"

In addition to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the AfD also claims to have found irregularities in the counting in Oberau. According to Filser, the witness can confirm that votes for the AfD have been “embezzled”. Mayor Peter Imminger (CSU) cannot comment on these allegations. "I am not aware of any of this." Imminger points out that the AfD did not run for the Oberau municipal council.

The AfD still has a hard time nibbling that Albert Grasegger has left the party and found his new political home with the Bayern party. Grasegger's departure from the AfD is under the heading “Mandate theft”. "I am very disappointed with the mess that Grasegger pulls off here," says Filser. "We campaigned for him, we put up posters and distributed flyers. Our district association paid the costs. And then Grasegger tells us. I never would have thought that, because I have known him as an honest person for decades. ”Filser assumes that Grasegger was pushed to this decision by members of other parties. "But that would also not justify the betrayal of the AfD district association Garmisch-Partenkirchen." There is radio silence between Filser and Grasegger. According to Filser, the New Bavaria Party council refuses to contact them.
