Who would have thought that after a three-week break, many schoolchildren long for everyday teaching - especially those in the final classes. Also surprising: emergency care is hardly used in the district.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen - With the Corona crisis, school is gaining a completely different value in people's minds, Christian Müller is certain of that. "Many people realize how good it is to have a teacher who explains everything to you," says the Rector of the Südschule Bad Tölz. Especially in the middle school area, the teacher as a caregiver and action-oriented learning play an important role: "Even if the students make an effort: It is difficult for them to learn the material alone at home."

Especially the young people in the final classes are very concerned about whether they can prepare well enough for the final exams. According to Müller, the teachers do everything for it - on all channels. However, a telephone call cannot replace personal contact. "Everyone would be happy when it starts again."

Youngsters in the final grades are very concerned about the final exams

Hardly any student has set foot in the southern school for three weeks. Only a couple of siblings came to emergency care on some days. According to the state school authority Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, an average of 20 to 25 children are cared for in small groups in the state and private elementary and middle schools throughout the district.

So far, no family has used emergency care in the elementary and middle school in Königsdorf, says Rector Judith Rupp. The rector also has no registrations for the Easter holidays. Rupp is not surprised: Already when classes were canceled due to the heavy snowfall at the beginning of 2019 and a few weeks ago due to the strong wind, hardly a family had taken advantage of the offer of emergency care.

What surprises Rupp: "You cannot assume that every family has a PC or printer." In some cases, the school has brought computers up to speed and made them available to the families affected so that they can print out their working documents. "Some colleagues even distribute the material personally by post." All teachers are very committed, Rupp emphasizes. "Some people have been sitting at their desks much longer than normal."

"Everyone would be happy if the business started again soon"

According to Rupp, on the other hand, some students of the final year show less commitment: "Some are not yet reasonable enough to understand that it is about their own graduation." the lessons do not take place regularly again after the holidays. Rupp's conclusion: "Everyone would be happy if the business started again soon."

Frank Schwesig wouldn't have anything against that either. "The possibilities to convey material under these circumstances are limited," says the principal of the elementary and middle school on Hammerschmiedweg in Wolfratshausen. In the meantime, “homeschooling” is working quite well. Above all, the graduating classes knew what they were learning for. "But especially in puberty, it is important if there is a teacher who sometimes says: 'Just pull it together'." Many families are currently in a difficult situation: there is no rhythmization, some parents may be unable to speak and speak Difficulties in understanding do not help with schoolwork. "You are not a teacher either."

No trampling on foot, no laughter: Stefanie Scheja is currently definitely too quiet at Hohenburg Castle. "We all have a little longing for our students," says the head of the Hohenburg secondary school in Lenggries. And most girls feel the same way the other way round. The final classes in particular were initially very unsettled. In the meantime everything has worked out well. "The colleagues are very creative, there is a lot of positive happening," says Scheja. A lot happens among the girls too. In addition, the final written exams will only start on July 1st. That means: Even if the schools don't open again immediately after the holidays: "We still have time."
