The latest results bring the number of negative samples to Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon to nineteen, which, along with Wallis and Futuna, remains the only two French territories spared by Covid-19.

The two archipelagos do not underestimate the virus and are preparing for its possible spread. The population is not confined to the two islands, but gatherings of more than 100 people are prohibited and barrier measures are recommended.
On March 26, 160 people were under quarantine at home for 14 days in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, including nearly 5,000 inhabitants. Last Wednesday, the prefect of the island Thierry Devimeux decided to systematically screen people who will arrive at the end of their fortnight. On March 20 in Wallis and Futuna, around 40 people who arrived from risk areas were under quarantine at home in the territory of more than 11,000 inhabitants.

The two territories have barricaded themselves from the rest of the world for several weeks by stopping passenger flights. Domestic inter-island flights are also suspended for the time being.
